Prize Winners

Some collectors center their collecting on categories of major prize winners: the Booker, Caldecott, Edgar, Hugo, National Book, Nebula, Newbery, PEN/Faulkner, Pulitzer prizes, or on lists of high spots compiled by knowledgeable authors, such as the Connolly 100, Queen's Quorom, and on and on. The following are some of these award winners, the years the awards were won, and the books for which they won. A more comprehensive list of literary awards, in some cases with the runners-up or short-listed authors, was published by Charlene Coffield in 1998. The title is Notable Literary Awards for Fiction and is available from her at 1401 Emerald Circel, Southlake, TX 76092. In addition, the American Library Association Web site (www.ala.org) has links to many of the award sites. Also see http://www.bookwire.com.

Note that we have listed the books in the year of their award, although in most cases the prizes were awarded the year following their publication (i.e., the 1992 Hugo Award is for the Best Novel Published in 1991).
