First edition of the most elusive of Rand's first editions, a dystopian tale not published in the U.S. until 1948 in a revised edition. 8vo red patterned-paper boards stamped in gilt on spine. About near fine with spine just slightly cocked, previous owner's name on first blank, and professional repair to spine ends where few small tears have been expertly mended. Housed in custom clamshell case backed in gilt-stamped embossed red leather with marbled paper sides (case is quite fine). Increasingly scarce in this nice condition.
