(Note: 9-digit SBN's were a precursor to the ISBN system in use today). His second novel and best-known work. The beloved fantasy story of a unicorn who, believing she is the last of her kind, sets off on a quest to discover what has happened to the others. Basis for the 1982 animated movie directed by Arthur Rankin and Jules Bass from a screenplay by Beagle with the voices of Mia Farrow (as the unicorn), Alan Arkin, Jeff Bridges, Angela Lansbury, et al. 8vo black cloth-backed blue paper boards; spine stamped in light blue, yellow, and purple; 218 pages. Near fine with just a touch of sunning to upper board edges; in very good or better dust jacket with few small chips and tears, light rubbing, and touch of creasing. Increasingly scarce.
