Prior to publication, Leon submitted the book for the 1991 Suntory prize in Japan, which it won -- resulting in an offer from HaperCollins for a 2-book contract (as of 2024, there have been 33). 8vo salmon paper-covered boards with gilt-stamped brown paper spine; 263 pages.
