London: Bradbury & Evans, 1848. First edition, first issue (in book form) with all first-issue points present as called for. Finely bound by Starr Bookworks in gilt-stamped full blue leather with raised bands and all edges gilt. Half-title and extra-illustrated title pages present, along with 2-line errata leaf which is bound after the prelims. Text and all 40 plates surprisingly fresh and clean with only the occasional touch of spotting to margins of few plates. Altogether near fine.
