INSCRIBED BY BELL on half-title page with a small doodle, "For Jane & Walter/ here's a [illegible]/ to you both/ with love from/ Madison." Additionally signed in full on title page and with publisher's "With the Compliments of the Author" card laid in. Walter Sullivan (1924-2006) was an author, critic, longtime Vanderbilt University professor, authority on Southern literature and one of the founding members of The Fellowship of Southern Writers to which Bell was elected for membership in 2003. His wife, Jane Harrison Sullivan (1923-2022), taught English literature at Aquinas College. Book and jacket show hint of wear to spine ends otherwise fine in fine dust jacket.
