New York: Random House, 1946. First edition. SCARCE FIRST ISSUE with pages 99-100 intregal and line 21, which should read "least," missing. ASSOCIATION COPY with ownership signature of poet and author JOHN FREDERICK NIMS on front endpaper and with his penciled comments and notations. Nims was an editor at Poetry Magazine when 4 of Jeffers poems appeared in the October 1947 issue and was one of the translators of EURIPIDES III: FOUR TRAGEDIES (1958). Some of his comments herein indicate lines from (or not) Euripides. 8vo copper-stamped quarter black cloth, orange paper boards; top edge black (the American Institute of Graphic Arts called it "one of the four most beautifully made books of the new season.") Near fine in good to very good dust jacket with only shallow chipping but internally repaired/reinforced with white cloth tape.
