Illustrated throughout from caricature drawings by various "regular cartoonists" of Ring Lardner's friends and/or associates, mostly from the sporting community, accompanied with a limerick about each by Lardner. Includes many notable figures: Charles Comiskey, sports writer / golfer "Chick" Evans, Jr., August Herrman (former Reds owner), Kid Gleason (former White Sox manager), Ban Johnson, plus other professionals, businessmen, a few actors, Chicago politicians, etc. 10 3/4x7 3/4, original full soft suede leather over paper covers, front cover lettered in gilt, bound with silk rope ties (as issued), yapp edges, green silk flyleaves.
