The final novel from the Irish-American raconteur, INSCRIBED on front endpaper, "To Comet Brooks/ a lover of Books/ and my friend/ Jim Tully" and with Brook's attractive silver bookplate with long quote from Thomas Wolfe's OF TIME AND THE RIVER on front pastedown. Pastedowns a bit darkened (offset from binding) otherwise bright and near fine in good dust with rubbing to spine, tanning to spine and rear panel edges, few small chips and tears, and two small internal tape repairs. From the collection of sports writer Paul "Dr. Z" Zimmerman with his penciled notations about the text on rear endpaper and corresponding passages marked in pencil in margins.
