London: Chapman and Hall, (1952). First edition. Based on his own travels to Ethiopia, this novel is a satire set in Azania, a fictional island nation off of the southeastern coast of Africa. A young emperor's attempt to modernize his home nation after returning from England where he attended Oxford. Minor rubbing on corners and faint foxing on page edges, otherwise binding strong, corners sharp, bright gilded lettering on spine. Dust jacket has darkened spine and aging but still very good.
