A CONNECTICUT YANKEE IN KING ARTHUR'S COURT. [Publisher's Prospectus / Salesman's Dummy]

New York: Chas. L. Webster & Co. 1889. First American edition. Publisher's prospectus or salesman's dummy, with half-title page, frontis illustration, title page, contents page, "List of Illustrations" page [stating illustrations not complete], preface, 63 pages of text, 15 pages of illustrations, and publisher's sample advertisements. The 32-page subscription form section has been torn out (the salesman must have sold them all). One of the two samples of the leather spines on inside front cover is missing, but the fold out-front cover and spine example for the cloth issue is attached to the rear pastedown and is in nice condition. The front cover shows the three-quarter leather option and the full, decorated leather option serves as the rear cover. Marbled paper example used as front endpaper and eventual endpaper for the cloth issue used as rear free endpaper--the latter paper is worn on edges and a little loose, but otherwise, although showing relatively minor wear on edges this rare dummy/prospectus is in decent condition, especially considering its use.
