THE THREE MULLA-MULGARS. Walter De la Mare. THE THREE MULLA-MULGARS.
London: Duckworth & Co. 1910. First edition, lacking the tipped-in errata slip and in the assumed remainder green binding. The first, and possibly the most famous, of de la Mare's books for children, started as a series of stories he told his own children. An animal fable of three royal monkeys who travel to find their missing father, and their adventures along the way. This has to be the nicest copy of this book extant. There is very minor foxing on page edges and close to hinges on endpapers, and a small name written on front endpaper, otherwise very fine in dust jacket. An almost new copy.

DE NUMMIS IN REPUB. PERCUTIENDIS & CONSERVANDIS; together with DE AUGMENTO AC VARIATIONE MONETARUM. de Thou Jacques Auguste, Jacobi Borniti, Gaspare Antonio Tesauro. DE NUMMIS IN REPUB. PERCUTIENDIS & CONSERVANDIS; together with DE AUGMENTO AC VARIATIONE MONETARUM.
Hanoviae & Francofurti: Typis Wechelianous & Jacobi Fischeri, 1608 & 1610. First edition of each title. Bound together for the library of French historian and book collector Jacques Auguste de Thou (1553 - 1617). Quarto brown polished calf with COAT OF ARMS OF DE THOU & SECOND WIFE, Gasparde de La Chastre, pressed in gilt at centers of both boards and with their monogram to four of the six spine panels. Borniti (aka Jacob Bornitz, c. 1560 -1625) wrote several works on economics, trade and political philosophy. He worked at the court of Rudolf II as a political administrator and this tract on the minting and preservation of coins within a republic, dedicated to Rudolf II, was probably his best-known work (Sothebys 2016 catalog note). Tesauro (1563-1628) was a magistrate of the Duke of Savoy and wrote about matters of Roman law and monetary theory. Small piece missing from head of spine, light rubbing to edges and along outer spine hinges, very few insect holes to interior with none affecting text. Altogether very good with pages only mildly darkened and otherwise quite clean. DE THOU COAT OF ARMS.
