BRASS ANKLE: A Play. Du Bose Heyward. BRASS ANKLE: A Play.
New York: Farrar & Rinehart, (1931). First edition, trade issue (there was also a limited edition). A "drama of white folks in the deep South, caught in circumstances beyond their control," by the author of PORGY. Gilt spine lettering a little darkened, otherwise fine in dust jacket with spine slightly toned but lettering still bright and just one tiny chip to top, rear spine tip. The jacket would be near fine to fine if it weren't for the "Protect-O-Cover" coating applied -- or perhaps that's the reason it's so nice. Either way, it's there, along with an inconspicous blindstamp along the fore-edge of the rear flap fold (identifying it as having been "protected"). Unusual nonetheless in such nice condition, with the orange-colored jacket unfaded and basically unworn.

Nadejen, Theodore. New York: Farrar & Rinehart, (1939). First edition. Spine is slightly faded, but cover art on front panel still clear and bright.
