THE STORY OF THE FOUR SWALLOWS: Montreal. Cocktail Book. THE STORY OF THE FOUR SWALLOWS: Montreal.
No-place: No-publisher, circa 1920s. Miniature book that opens to reveal a small box with room for four tiny bottles. This one with "Scotch," "Irish," and "Brandy" but missing the "Port." Judging from the context of its mention in a 1922 issue of a west-coast paper-making company's monthly journal, "The Story of the Four Swallows" was most likely a prohibition era item (Making Paper, Volume 5, p.215) imported from Canada where prohibition was only a brief war-time measure lasting from 1918 to 1920. 2.5 x 3.5" green paper-covered boards stamped in gilt on spine and front. Very good. GIVE ME ONE SCOTCH, ONE BOURBON.
