(Burroughs, Edgar Rice), Robert Towne.
SCREENPLAY FOR THE MOVIE "GREYSTROKE": Photocopy in Pressbound Report Covers.
(No-place: no-publisher, August 4, 1977). Early draft of Robert Towne's screenplay for 1984 movie, "Greystroke," based on Burroughs' novel, TARZAN OF THE APES. Directed by Hugh Hudson, starring Christopher Lambert and Andie MacDowell. Towne, frustrated at being passed over for director, used the pseudonym "P. H. Vazak"--the name of his dog--for the film and received an Oscar nomination for "Best Adapted Screenplay" under that name. 170 pages, printed on rectos only, clasp bound with black card covers. Plain white label on front with handwritten "GREYSTROKE / Rob't Towne"; title handwritten on "spine" (left-side page edges). Covers a little loose but holding, otherwise very good.

Burroughs, Edgar Rice.
TARZAN OF THE APES.
New York: A. L. Burt, [1915]. An early reprint edition of the author's first book. Issued from the plates of the McClurg 1914 first edition with its copyright page but with a new title page and frontis based on the original McClurg title page. Near fine with only the barest wear to green cloth boards. The cover is lettered in black and there are no lines on the cover; in dust jacket with some minor edge wear and a few chips at spine ends. A very nice copy. Robert Zeuschner calls for the Burt first printing to be lettered in white and to have embossed lines on cover--this copy doesn't but it does have ads for only Harold Bell Wright titles in the back, and the latest one advertised is a 1914 Wright title. We assume there would have been other Tarzan titles or other later Wright books advertised if this were published much later than 1914. AN EARLY REPRINT ISSUED FROM THE PLATES OF THE FIRST.

Cage, John.
ROLYWHOLYOVER: A Circus.
Los Angeles & New York: Museum of Contemporary Art & Rizzoli, [1993]. First edition. "This publication accompanies a major exhibition. . .conceived by Cage as a 'composition for museum'." Mirrored aluminum box (approximately 11.5 x 10 x 1") lettered in yellow on lid; chock-full of loose ephemera including various writings by Cage and others--nearly 60 items in all. "Cage's marvelous show did for art what his work as a composer did for music. Think of the exhibition as a visual concert in three movements. . .[the exhibition] organized with Cage by former MOCA curator Julie Lazar, consisted of three head-spinning rooms of organized chaos. The spot-on title came from James Joyce's epic comedy, 'Finnegans Wake' " (Christopher Knight, Los Angeles Times). Box shows light scratching, otherwise fine.
