GUBERNATOR. Robert Penn Warren. GUBERNATOR.
([Warsaw], Poland): Panstwowy Instytut Wydawniczy, (1960). First Polish edition, with a prologue by Bronislaw Zielinski. Paperwraps, in dust jacket. Reprinted in 1962 in boards, and then again in 1964 in two volumes (Grimshaw J22a). This appears to have been Warren's personal copy, with "1st printing--20,000" apparently in Warren's hand. We purchased the book from a dealer who bought it from bibliographer and collector Stuart Wright, who is known to have received books from Warren's personal library. Small ink stamp inside rear cover, spine a little creased, otherwise near fine in white, printed paperwraps and dust jacket. Dust jacket shows light edge rubbing, few tiny nicks, and slight tanning at spine, otherwise very good to near fine. Scarce.

VILE BODIES. Evelyn Waugh. VILE BODIES.
New York: Jonathan Cape / Harrison Smith, (1930). First U.S. edition, published March, 1930 (the UK was published January). Originally titled "Bright Young Things," a tabloid nickname for the hard-partying young aristocrats and socialites of 1920s London whom Waugh satirizes herein. Green cloth-backed, decorated yellow paper boards; spine stamped in yellow; top edge stained black. Fading to cloth at ends of spine and a spot near the center, otherwise very good with paper-covering still bright and black top-edge color still strong. The dust jacket has professional repair to spine ends and corners, is discolored at spine, and shows light glass-ring spots on rear panel. A scarce book in jacket. SCARCE IN DUST JACKET.
