No place: No publisher, (circa 1991). First edition. Oversize, 8 1/2 x 11 inch proofs bound with unprinted black cloth spine, clear plastic front cover and heavier black-paper back cover. First page, which serves as a front cover (visible through clear plastic) has handwritten title and author over the chapter heading "I MOSCOW," beneath which is a date range of "August __ - August __, 1991." The dates are left blank but in the final, printed version, the dates are the 6th to the 12th. We assume this proof format was issued before any other proofs. The pages are double spaced with page numbers written in, and there are a few handwritten changes to text. 518 pages. Pages 184-194 inserted upside-down. Final page has damp stain on front edge, otherwise very good or better.
