BILLY RAY'S FARM: With Engravings by Barry Moser. Larry Brown, Barry Moser. BILLY RAY'S FARM: With Engravings by Barry Moser.
Decatur, Georgia: Wisteria Press, 1997. First edition. Letter "Z" of 26 COPIES BOUND IN FULL LEATHER and housed in handmade clamshell box, each copy SIGNED BY BROWN AND MOSER and with TWO LOOSE LITHOGRAPHS SIGNED BY MOSER in glassine envelope laid in (one is the frontispiece illustration, the other appears opposite the first page of text and is of Brown). The handmade box is by artist Kannex Fung and features heavily textured handmade papers and a small wooden picket fence that becomes a stockade when the box is fully closed. A beautiful, fine-press production. Although Billy Ray, Brown's son, has had persistent bad luck with cattle, in this non-fiction essay featuring dead calves, misbehaving bulls, rampaging coyotes and dilapidated fences, both father and son remain optimistic: "Billy Ray's farm does not yet exist on an earthly plane," writes Brown, but "on Billy Ray's farm there will be total harmony, wooden fence rows straight as a plumb line, clean, with no weeds, no rusted barbed wire." Later collected under the same title in 2001. His first work of nonfiction since his acclaimed ON FIRE. Fine in fine box. ONE OF ONLY 26 TO INCLUDE TWO MOSER LITHOGRAPHS.

ORIGINAL CARICATURE OF CAPOTE together with HAND-WRITTEN NOTE. Truman Capote. ORIGINAL CARICATURE OF CAPOTE together with HAND-WRITTEN NOTE.
1977. Double matted and framed together. The original image depicting Capote as an underworld figure in a pin stripe zoot suit with U.S. flag stitched on the arm, brandishing a machine-gun "violin" case with a warhead missile protruding. Rendered in India ink on stiff drawing paper, measuring approximately 12 x 14". It is by well-known caricaturist Taylor Jones--signed by him and dated 1977. Taylor drew caricatures for the Los Angeles Times Syndicate before joining Tribune Media Services. Among his clients are The Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Seattle Times and many other dailies; he has been a frequent contributor to The New Republic and U.S. News & World Report. The note, in Capote's hand, is on a single sheet measuring approximately 4 x 6". The words go well with the haughty/hostile image: "Dear Sir -- I do not have time to answer your request -- T. Capote." Fine.

THE ICE KING. Daniel Casolaro. THE ICE KING.
Ardmore: Whitmore Publishing, (1981). First edition of his only book, a novel about mountain climbing. Full-page, intimate INSCRIPTION: "To a beautiful girl - - -." The author was an American freelance writer who came to public attention in 1991 when he was found dead, his wrists slashed 10-12 times, in a bathtub in a room in the Sheraton Hotel in Martinsburg, West Virginia. A note was found, and the medical examiner ruled the death a suicide. However, his death became controversial because his working notes suggested he had traveled to Martinsburg to meet a source in connection with a story he had dubbed "the Octopus," which centered around a sprawling conspiracy theory involving an international cabal. Fine in dust jacket with few small chips on corners. Unaccountably scarce--and we would guess rare signed.
