THE ICE KING. Daniel Casolaro. THE ICE KING.
Ardmore: Whitmore Publishing, (1981). First edition of his only book, a novel about mountain climbing. Full-page, intimate INSCRIPTION: "To a beautiful girl - - -." The author was an American freelance writer who came to public attention in 1991 when he was found dead, his wrists slashed 10-12 times, in a bathtub in a room in the Sheraton Hotel in Martinsburg, West Virginia. A note was found, and the medical examiner ruled the death a suicide. However, his death became controversial because his working notes suggested he had traveled to Martinsburg to meet a source in connection with a story he had dubbed "the Octopus," which centered around a sprawling conspiracy theory involving an international cabal. Fine in dust jacket with few small chips on corners. Unaccountably scarce--and we would guess rare signed.

A WANTED MAN. Lee Child. A WANTED MAN.
London: Bantam Press, (2012). First edition, preceding the American edition. SIGNED on title page. This one got a sterling review from Nick Burrows in London, who was offering copies for sale: "A Jack Reacher novel with the usual thin plot, slowly building suspense and Reacher's conclusive, righteous violence. I should have wearied of this formulaic stuff by now, but like all Child's other books, could barely put it down until finished." So true. Fine in dust jacket.
