INSCRIBED BY PRITCHETT on front endpaper, "For Jane & Walter Sullivan/ affectionately from/ Dorothy & Victor Pritchett”; additionally signed “V. S. Pritchett” on title page. Walter Sullivan (1924-2006) was an author, critic, longtime Vanderbilt University professor, authority on Southern literature and one of the founding members of The Fellowship of Southern Writers. This copy most likely inscribed while Pritchett was writer in residence at Vanderbilt in 1981. Near fine in very good or better dust jacket with spine toned from beige to pale blue, touch of rumpling, and few creases and tears.
