This one additionally INSCRIBED BY MARLAN BEILKE and signed by him and wife Irene (the printers and publishers), to Jeffers collector Allen K. Mears, “for our dear friend--/ and fellow Jeffersian--/Allen K. Mears/ from his pal in/ Amador City, ‘Linomarl,’/ Marlan Beilke Irene Beilke/ 16th October, 1986.” ALSO INCLUDES 3-PAGE TYPED LETTER SIGNED by Beilke, “Raven the Maven!” (in reference to his offer of a copy of a “Lawn Raven” sculpture he was having cast); on onionskin paper, dated “20 III MMXVII,” and addressed to “Dear Bigge Al.” It discusses the Kleins, how they met the Jeffers, the publication of the book, the disposition of additional copies of the Weston photographs, and includes a small reproduction of a photo of Bret Harte (with explanation typed on back) as well as a copy of Mears’ letter in response. Near fine with creasing from having been folded to thirds and pin-prick holes from previous stapling to upper left corners. 8vo brick-red linen boards; gilt-stamped spine; printed label on front; all edges speckled; 53 pages. Illustrated with 4 black-and-white photographs -- 3 of which are by Weston (2 of Jeffers and one of Mina Cooper Klein) -- tipped to leaves cut in mat-like format. Fine in fine dust jacket.
