CHILDREN COMING HOME.

(Chicago): David Company, (1991). First edition. Poetry collection written from the points of view of imagined young students that sometimes reflects the all too harsh realities existing in some children's lives. INSCRIBED BY BROOKS on first blank page, "For Bethany,/ Sincerely!/ Gwendolyn Brooks/ February 26, 1993." Published by Brooks' own Chicago press, The David Company, which she named in honor of her father, with covers resembling those of a standard school composition book. 7.5 x 9.75" black-and-white paperwraps; 20 pages plus author biography. Very good or better with rubbing to spine ends and corners, fairly inconspicuous flattened creasing extending from lower left front corner, and thin glass or bowl ring faintly visible in white blocking around front-cover title. Quite scarce, especially signed or inscribed.
