Souvenir book published by alumni brewers to commemorate the 10th anniversary of their Alma Mater, Chicago’s “Siebel’s Brewing Academy,” then called the “Zymotechnic Institute” (“zymotechnic” being the science of fermentation) and now known as Chicago’s Seibel Institute of Technology – the oldest and best-known brewing school in the United States. Details each piece of operating equipment on the premises of over 50 breweries and several malt houses, provides the names of officers and principal heads of departments, and gives directions to the various locations via street car and/or “el” train connections. All of which is well interspersed with full-page ads for equipment suppliers, etc. 12mo black cloth over flexible boards with gilt stamping to front cover only; all edges gilt; 320 pages including 21 pages of indexes, 8 blank pages for "Memoranda." Possible review copy with typed letter laid in from the Associations Secretary, M. C., Maegerlein, describing the book, asking for any acknowledgement and comments, and providing a brief errata. Front hinge paper splitting but hinge still tight, rubbing to gilt titling affecting last few letters in "Alumni," boards visible in few small areas around edges, 2 shallow gouges from fore edge rear board, and rear cover cloth subtly mottled. OCLC locates only one physical copy. Rare.
