Lorain, OH: Lorain High School, 1948. First edition. High school yearbook for junior year of Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison (born Chloe Ardelia Wofford in 1918). Morrison’s tiny school picture appears on p. 65 (2nd row, 2nd from right); her sister Lois’s senior picture appears on p. 46. Toni is also pictured in group photos for “Senate Council” (p.86, 2nd row, right); “Library Aid” (4th row, left – sister, Lois, furthest right); and “A Cappella Choir” (p.[104], 1st row, 6th from right). Small 4to burgundy simulated leather boards with spine title reading “The 1948 Scimitar”; 144 pages. About very good with few leaves beginning to detach at center, old tape repair to few pages, tears in first page repaired with archival tape, and title page a little foxed. Scarce memento from Morrison's youth.
