This U.S. appearance is preceded only by the very limited separate edition privately published in the UK in only 30 copies in January 1924. Later collected in the posthumously published LAST ESSAYS (1926). Conrad’s essay appears on pages 239 - 274 and is copiously illustrated with photographs both full plate and in the text. Spine ends creased and a little soiled otherwise bright and very good to near fine with few scrapes to photo on p.260.
