New York: George Munro, 1879. First edition thus: third and last of "The d'Artagnan Romances." An early English translation. Serialized in four "Unchanged and Unabridged" parts. While not the first English translation to be published in the U.S., certainly an early one. Four "Double Number" issues of the Seaside Library, Vol. XXXII, No. 664, labeled "First" through "Fourth Series." First one dated December 15, 1879; second, December 16, 1879; no month or day of publication given for the other two (just the year). Each volume (or "series") with holes from having been separately sewn; all four volumes with stab marks from having been bound as well as one or two stress tears that extend from margins throughout affecting some text but not so as to render it unreadable. "First Series": covers detached but present, front cover considerably darkened but readable with some loss to inner margin (not affecting text) and corner chip affecting just the tips of a few letters; 89 pp. plus ads. "Second Series": covers detached but present; 90 pp. plus ads. "Third Series": covers starting but still holding; 79 pp plus ads. "Fourth Series": front cover detached but present, lacking rear cover of ads, last page of text (p. 80) considerably darkened but still readable with loss to outer margin affecting only the ads; loss to inner margin p.79 affecting beginnings of most lines of text on that page. 80 pp. including half-page of ads. Spoiler alert -- only Aramis makes it out alive.
