Madison, Connecticut: Reed Whittemore, 1947. First edition. "Ernest V. Trueblood" tells the story of Faulkner's encounter with a cow -- after which "Mr. Faulkner said nothing at all. He just drank, with that static violence which was his familiar character, and so I knew that he was himself once more and the real Mr. Faulkner which had appeared momentarily to Oilver and myself in the pasture had already retreated to that inaccessible bourne from which only the cow, Beulah, had ever evorked it, and that doubtless we would never see it again." First appearance in English; translated version previously appeared in "Fontaine" in Algiers. TOGETHER WITH Vol. II, No. 2, Fall 1946 ("Or Whole Number 6") and Vol. II, No. 3, Spring 1947. White paperwraps printed in black and various colors. Fall 1946 issue with unprinted spine (perhaps because of its dual identity). All are in very good or better condition with small name at top front cover, light soiling, and few small rubs.
