Chicago: Victor Kremer Co., (1910). Later printing with publisher's info printed along bottom front cover. Lullaby composed by White Sox pitcher "Doc" White with lyrics by Ring Lardner--a bestseller in its time. 10.5 x 13.5"; 6 pages including covers. "Little colored child, he's been running wild, Running all the live-long day, Must be tired out, Must be just about, Ready now to seek the hay" ... such a sweet song if it weren't for the use of "colored," "Mammy," and "pickaninny" to evoke hurtful racist stereotypes in the U.S. One has to wonder why two White men chose to produce a lullaby about a Black child and, frankly, whether it was an appropriation of an existing song. Several short splits and tears otherwise about very good.
