HANDS: "Weathering Here"; "Anthem"; "Elementary Principles at 72"; "To Myself"; "Wait"; "Asides".
(Brooklyn: Rolling Press), [circa 2005]. First edition. 6 poems by 6 poets; each poem on its own folding card. Cards are blank on outside and on inside have a portrait sketch of the poet by David Alexander opposite a facsimile of the poem in the poet's hand, laid over which is a printed version on heavy glassine. Joint venture of Dorothea Tanning and Jennifer Melby sponsored by the Academy of American Poets in an edition of only 200 copies. No date but Rich's contribution, "Wait," bears her 2003 copyright and is noted as having been collected in 2004, so we assume sometime after then. "H]ere are six of our beacons in poetry who so kindly responded to 'Please write us a poem' with willing hands" -- from Tanning's brief introduction. Housed in pearlescent quadra-fold envelope with title in green; circular green sticker seal. Fine. Although not designated as such, this copy is from the collection of prize-winning poet Anthony Hecht. Scarce to rare.
