INSCRIBED on the title page "for Allen Mears: / an ancient bottle of old wine / Robert Bringhurst / 6 October 2005." The book is a sequence of 12 poems and translations based on pre-Socratic sources. The book is bound in ivory-colored stiff machine-made Teton Cover paper, with titling on the spine, printed in black. The paper dust jacket is printed in orange and black in a design adapted from original drawings by Winifred McNeill, done by McNeill while in the Greek ruins at Syracusa, Italy.
