THE YOUTH'S COMPANION, June 9, 1904, "New England Edition"; includes "The Condor," Jeffers' first regularly published poem.

(Boston: Perry Mason Company, 1904). First edition. Vol. 78, No. 23, with Jeffers' poem, "The Condor" on p.284 with woodcut illustration above. Jeffers' college literary magazine, "The Aurora," published three of his poems (1903/4) but this is his first appearance in a regularly published magazine. 11.25 x 16.25", 16 pages, wire stitched. Also includes an article on Madame Curie by Priscilla Leonard, "Radium, the Magic Metal"; part one of three of Hamlin Garland's "Little Squatter"; music by Annie Willis McCullough; and more. Creased where folded at center, staining to outer corners otherwise near fine with only minimal wear to edges. This particular issue is rare and the "New England Editions" of Youth's Companion appear to be scarce.
