A 20-poem cycle by the NOBEL PRIZE-WINNING POET written in Warsaw in 1943, during the Nazi occupation that is considered among his greatest works. Includes both the English and texts, which appear on opposing pages. Hand-bound letterpress; one of a designated 275 copies SIGNED BY MILOSZ AND DINE of which 250 for sale. Milosz's signature is in pencil on the half title and Dine's is beneath the artist's statement opposite his full-page portrait of Milosz. Housed in original mailing carton from the press together with the prospectus (in original printed envelope) and Arion Press announcement for titles available Fall 1989 (in original mailing envelope). Folio brown-cloth backed cream-colored handmade-paper boards printed in brown on front and with cream paper label printed in brown on spine. Arion Press publcation no. 29. Issued without dust ajcket.
