POETRY FLASH: A Poetry Review & Literary Calendar for the West; Nos. 294 & 295, Summer/Fall 2005.
(Berkeley: Poetry Flash, 2005). First edition. Includes "More than Human Things," an extensive review by Eric Gudas of THE SELECTED POETRY OF ROBINSON JEFFERS (Stanford Univ. Pr., 2001). In an email exchange with collector Allen K. Mears, Gudas explains the delay in publication of his review: "[It's] the fault of the California state legislature, which has cut arts funding in our state almost totally. Poetry Flash and other small arts organizations have suffered as a result, and that's why they (the Flash) don't publish as often as they used to, and [why] when they do publish there is a backlog of reviews.....if you can afford to make a donation, please do." Also includes Michael McClure and James Nolan's in memoriams for Philip Lamantia; Elizabeth Robinson on Robert Creeley; George Albon on Dennis Phillips; Suzanne Lummis on Poetry & Boxing, et al. POETRY FLASH was founded in 1972 as a mimeographed calendar of Bay Area poetry readings. Under the tutelage of Joyce Jenkins, editor since 1978, it has evolved into a literary magazine published in newspaper format. Also includes a printed transcript of the email correspondence between Mears, Gudas, and the Robinson Jeffers Association mailing list. Approximately 11.25 x 15"; 60 pages. Folded for mailing, chips in bottom front and back covers (where opened), otherwise very good or better.
