The briefest of brief TYPED LETTERS SIGNED on letterhead of Chicago Tribune where he worked for years, dated August 30th (no year) "Dear Mr. Hanson:- Sure. Ring W. Lardner." First issue without the poem by H. H. Howland on page 6. Small 8vo green cloth stamped in red on spine; pictorial plate affixed to front cover. Dust jacket printed on brown kraft paper with gummed edge on verso of front flap; designed to serve as a wrapper for mailing. Very good or better with endpapers darkened and spine toned but otherwise only minor wear; in good to very good dust jacket with shallow chipping and tears and internal archival tape repair to splits at folds and spine. Scarce signed.
