His third novel but first to be published in hardcover in the U.S. (the rest were issued here in paperback). Also, his first book to be adapted for film--made into the 1988 movie "Cop," starring James Woods. INSCRIBED, "To Lana, Bloody Good Devouring, James Ellroy"; or, at least that's what it appears to say--your guess is as good as ours. Provenance: from the estate of Lana Pipes. Lana and her husband, Lane, were prominent Washington-area collectors. Fine in fine dust jacket.
