Elihu Vedder. Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1894. Third printing, the smaller, octavo issue. This edition is illustrated by Elihu Vedder, whose visual interpretation of the Rubaiyat is highly regarded. The first printing was a folio, limited issue in 1884 of 100 copies signed by Vedder; followed by a trade edition in quarto in 1886. There were two issues of this 1894 printing; one in folio and this one in octavo (measuring approximately 6.25 x 8.5"). Brown, beveled, decorated-cloth boards; top edge gilt. Nice production with elaborate gilt cover design, decorated endpapers, and plates printed on joined leaves. A fine copy with only very minor rubbing on corners.
