BROKEN NECKS: More 1001 Afternoons in Chicago.

Chicago: Pascal Covici, 1926. First edition. More stories from Hecht's early days as a reporter on the Chicago Daily News, a continuation of sorts of his first book,1001 AFTERNOONS IN CHICAGO (1922). Hecht was known for his chronicles of high and low life in Chicago, New York and Hollywood in novels, short stories, plays and a stream of memoirs, as well as for his award-winning work as a screenwriter (he won the very first Academy Award for original screenplay for "Underworld" in 1927 and worked on the screenplays for many classics). Octavo patterned-cloth boards; black cloth spine stamped in green; top edge appears to have been green (now faded). Spine a bit dulled otherwise very good to near fine; in good to very good dust jacket with significant chipping to spine ends, though not affecting any lettering. A scarce book that is scarce to rare in jacket.
