London: Chapman & Hall, 1952, 1955, 1961. First edition of each of the three original volumes in Waugh's war trilogy. Based on his own wartime experiences in Crete and Yugoslavia while serving in the Royal Marines and considered by him to be among his best works. All three volumes showing significant foxing to page fore edges as well as to dust jacket flaps -- but with only relatively few nicks, rubs and tiny tears to the jackets. First 2 volumes lightly foxed on first and last few leaves. Latter 2 volumes with insect damage evident though blue color still strong. Top edge color strong on first 2 volumes but fading on 3rd one. Dust jacket on 2nd volume shows more extensive foxing which extends to rear panel (while 3rd volume shows comparatively little foxing). None of the dust jackets are price clipped though 1st one has publisher's "12/6 net"-label over original printed price. Altogether a good to very good set.
