"The Brick Burner" was a self-published and solely authored political periodical edited under the name Ret Marut up until March 1919, after which Marut remained anonymous, identified on the rear cover only as being "known to the subscribers." Marut is generally believed to be the mysterious B. Traven, author of TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE and a number of politically charged novels. Red, printed paperwraps, 7 stapled, one perfect bound. Covers toned to various shades from red to pale pink; first volume toned to light brown. Altogether a very good set of this ANARCHIST JOURNAL, which is especially scarce in the earlier issues.
