In the publisher's original pale-green cloth lettered in black and with illustration by Will M.Bradley stamped in red and black on front and rear covers; "Volume 1" at base of both boards blacked out, as usually seen. Illustrated with photographs of contributors Gertrude Atherton, Stanley Waterloo, and Bret Harte. Short-lived magazine described by its publishers as "A Monthly Magazine & Review of Belles-Lettres [and] Also a Periodical of Protest." This volume collects the only four issues -- June through September, 1897. Includes several pieces by Ambrose Bierce, as well as Eugene Field, Joaquin Miller, Francis Saltus, et al. Bound without the wrappers, as issued. About very good with overall aging to covers, which are a little rubbed, corners bumped, publisher's name at base of spine barely legible.
