New York: McDowell, Obolensky, (1957). First edition. Posthumously published Pulitzer Prize winner. First issue with "Walking" (vs. "Waking") first word p.80, title page lettered in blue, and gray top-edge stain, as called for. Autobiographical novel set in Knoxville, Tennessee, begun by Agee in 1948 but still not quite complete when he died in 1955. Edited and released by David McDowell, his editor, in 1957 to assist Agee's widow and children, who were left with little money after his death. Cloth edges slightly tanned and spine ends a little soft otherwise near fine; in very good or better dust jacket with some rubbed creasing to spine ends and corners and subtle spotting to spine.
