Washington. D.C. National Press Books, (1992). First edition. SIGNED BY James Earl Ray. Foreword by Jesse Jackson, and preface by Mark Lane. Ray (1928-1998) was convicted of King's assassination in 1969 after entering a guilty plea to avoid a jury trial which, had he been found guilty, could have resulted in a death sentence. Instead, he was sentenced to 99 years in prison. He later recanted and made an unsuccessfully bid for retrial. Ray died in prison of complications due to chronic hepatitis C infection in 1998. Fine in fine dust jacket. DID HOOVER ORDER THE HIT?
