THE MEMOIRS OF HERBERT HOOVER: 1874-1920: Years of Adventure.

New York: Macmillan Company, 1951. First edition. INSCRIBED, "To my friend Otto G. Lindberg from Herbert Hoover." Lindberg's great claim to fame is that in the 1930's as founder of General Drafting Co., a map-making business, he and his assistant, Ernest Alpers, added a totally fictitious place called "Agloe" to an out-of-the-way dirt road in New York state (to keep other companies from pirating their maps). "Agloe," which was an anagram of their combined initials, has subsequently appeared on maps for years -- and was only just removed from Google Maps in 2014. Fine in very good to near fine dust jacket with minor wear and chipping on the corners and spine ends.
