[New York]: An American Place, 1943. First edition. On 8.5 x 11" onionskin paper. Interesting note written with flourish in what appears to be the form of a poem, presumably in response to a question put to him at his New York "An American Place" gallery and request for his signature. At the head of the page Stieglitz has written "An American Place/ July 3--43," then "You desire this:/ Alfred Stieglitz"; followed by "I have no favorite/ American author./ There are some that/ hold me equally. --/ Each in his own parti-/ cular way. ----" Stieglitz's "An American Place" was his third and final gallery, which he ran from 1929 until his death in 1946. Flattened creasing from folding, touch of wear to top edge, otherwise fine. "I HAVE NO FAVORITE AMERICAN AUTHOR"
