SCREENPLAY FOR THE MOVIE "GREYSTROKE"

(No-place: no-publisher, August 4, 1977). Early draft of Robert Towne's screenplay for the 1984 movie "Greystroke," which was based on Burroughs' novel, TARZAN OF THE APES. The film was directed by Hugh Hudson with Christopher Lambert starring as "Tarzan" (the name is never used in the film's dialogue) and Andie MacDowell as Jane; the cast also included Sir Ralph Richardson, who received an Academy Award nomination for "Best Supporting Actor." Unfortunately Towne, who was apparently frustrated at being passed over for director, used the pseudonym "P. H. Vazak" (the name of his dog) for the film and so his Oscar nomination for "Best Adapted Screenplay" was under that name. 170 pages, printed on rectos only, clasp bound with black card covers. Plain white label on front with handwritten "GREYSTROKE / Rob't Towne"; title handwritten on "spine" (left-side page edges). Covers a little loose but holding, otherwise very good.
