SIGNED AND DATED BY BUKOWSKI IN SILVER INK, "Charles Bukowski 12-14-63." Hand-fed letterpress printed one sheet at a time by the Webbs on varied-colored papers of differing widths and bound in remarkably executed paperwraps. An extraordinary piece of contemporary American book making. Issued in yellow envelope-style stiff paperwraps with thin-cork overlay printed in red and black on front; black printed spine and flap; and black and purple on back. Flap illustrated with photograph of Bukowski. TITLE AND EPIGRAPH FROM JEFFERS' POEM, "HELLENISTICS." Together with issue No. 2 of the Bukowski newsletter, "Sure," which includes an article on the history of the book and SCREAMS FROM THE BALCONY: SELECTED LETTERS 1960-1970 (paperwraps issue, 1993) with references to the book and Jeffers in the letters marked--including the one in which he notes that a line was left off the poem "Dinner, Rain & Transport" (p.46), which collector Allen K. Mears has penciled in the margin. Near fine with only light rubbing to edges.
