THE MIGHTY BARNUM: A Screen Play

New York: Covici Freide, (1934). First edition. Illustrated with photographs from the movie. Touted as "the first full-length scenario for an actual talking picture production to be published in book form." If not the first screenplay to published in book form, certainly among the very earliest. INSCRIBED TO A MAJOR BOOK COLLECTOR BY FOWLER, "To that assidious and clever collector, and my friend as well, Earle Bernheimer. Gene Fowler 1947." Bernheimer was part owner of a film company and a patron of Robert Frost (he arranged over the years to pay Frost a kind of stipend for whatever he cared to send him from month to month -- be it drafts, proofs or wastebasket shavings). Illustrated with stills from the movie starring Wallace Beery as P.T. Barnum and featuring Adolphe Menjou. Very good or better in good to very good price-clipped dust jacket with a few chips and spine a little darkened and with closed tears backed with acid free archival clear tape,
