Dickerson: Quill & Brush, 2011. Fourth edition. Includes identification information and estimated prices for over 20,000 collected books in all categories. Over 800 pages. Sections on book collecting, publishers' methods for first-edition identification, comprehensive bibliography of bibliographies, and more. A NOTE FROM THE COMPILERS: With millions of books listed online, the internet has become the first place to go for identifying and pricing scarce and rare first editions. However, the information needed to identify first printings and first "states" or "issues" is not always available on the internet -- and what information is available online is often inaccurate or misleading. For those interested in buying or selling scarce and rare first editions COLLECTED BOOKS: THE GUIDE TO IDENTIFICATION & VALUES provides assurance that your offerings or purchases are bibliographically correct. COLLECTED BOOKS has been cited as a standard reference in American Literary Scholarship, Antique Week, Arts & Antiques, The Baltimore Sun, Barrons, Business Week, Departures, Forbes, National Enquirer, People Magazine, Southern Accent Magazine, USA Today, Washington Investor Quarterly, The Washington Post, and The Washington Times. NOTE -- THIS IS A DIGITAL VERSION OF THIS TITLE FOR DOWNLOAD TO YOUR E-BOOK READER, MOBILE DEVICE OR PERSONAL COMPUTER. 21 LETTERS OF AMBROSE BIERCE. Ambrose Bierce, , Samuel Loveman H. P. Lovecraft. 21 LETTERS OF AMBROSE BIERCE.
West Warwick, RI: Necronomicon Press, (1991). First edition thus. Reprint of the 1922 limited edition, adding an introduction by Donald R. Burleson. Bierce's letters to Loveman--who he seemed to have taken under his wing--from October, 1908, until a few months before Bierce disappeared in Mexico in December, 1913, with the last one reading, "Dear Mr. Loveman, This is only to say good-bye. I am going away to South America in a few weeks, and have not the faintest notion when I shall return. May you prosper and be happy. Sincerely, Ambrose Bierce. September 10, 1913") Burleson's introduction is an incongrous one, focusing entirely on Bierce's influence on H. P. Lovecraft. Loveman later became friends with Lovecraft; Bierce's work influenced Lovecraft's; and Lovecraft wrote literary criticism on Bierce. Still, it seems a tenuous link for the subject of 4-pages of introduction out of a total of 16 pages of text. Yellow, stapled paperwraps printed in black. Very good with covers a little rumpled and fading to edges.
