First UK edition, preceded by the U.S. but with Conrad's "Author's Note" to this edition not included in the U.S. The rare first state of the title page, which is integral, with comma after "Essex Street" in the publisher's address. Four pages of publisher's ads at rear dated Autumn 1915 followed by 32-page publisher's catalog dated "8/5/15" (on p.31), as called for. Spine faded to pink though gilt lettering still bright; half-title page darkened at margins, otherwise near fine. WITH RARE FIRST-STATE TITLE PAGE.
