Gathered signatures laid in the first-issue dust jacket, with reviews of THE NATURAL on back panel--a presumed proof copy of his second book, which won the 1957 Daroff Fiction Award from the Jewish Book Council of America and the 1958 Award of the National Institute of Arts and Letters. The dust jacket is chipped at head and tail of spine, slightly affecting "Th" in title; rubbed along where it appears to have been folded at spine, and near center, where there is a closed tear; few small stains to rear panel, which is otherwise only lightly soiled--otherwise about very good.
